In the lead-up to the Spanish Grand Prix, Christian Horner, the long-serving Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, addressed recent speculation linking him to a potential move to Ferrari. Reports suggested that Ferrari chairman John Elkann had approached Horner to replace current team principal Fred Vasseur, amid Ferrari’s struggles this season. However, Horner firmly dismissed these rumors, stating his unwavering commitment to Red Bull.
“Of course, it’s always flattering to be associated with other teams, but my commitment 100% is with Red Bull,” Horner said during a press conference at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. “It always has been and certainly will be for the long term.” He humorously added, “My Italian is worse than Flavio [Briatore]’s English, so how on earth would that work?”
Horner’s tenure at Red Bull has been marked by significant success. Since joining the team in 2005, he has overseen six Constructors’ Championships and eight Drivers’ Championships, with notable achievements including Sebastian Vettel’s four consecutive titles and Max Verstappen’s recent dominance.
Despite internal challenges, including the departure of key personnel like designer Adrian Newey and tensions involving senior advisor Helmut Marko, Horner remains a central figure in Red Bull’s operations. His leadership has been pivotal in maintaining the team’s competitive edge in Formula 1.
While Ferrari’s interest in Horner underscores his reputation in the sport, his clear denial of any impending move reaffirms his dedication to Red Bull. As the season progresses, Horner’s focus remains on guiding Red Bull to continued success on the track.
